From asking you every year for second set of professional photos for my kids every first day of school to studying and taking work calls during our kid's school events to now witnessing you achieve one of most rewarding merits that a mom can ever achieve, thank you for allowing me to be in your life then and now even better friends than before. When they say "sky is the limit" you are a true example that although you may have kids, parents, husband, and pets to care for you can still achieve anything you put your mind to. You are a true testament of that! You are an amazing role model to me, my kids, my family, your family/friends, our community and everyone else you meet along the way. Since the first day we've met there was no doubt in my life I always knew You were and still are that mom I've always dreamt of being when I grow up! I met LaVerne during undergrad at Embry-Riddle in the summer of 2001, when we flew to France for a three-month study abroad. First night there, I'm standing in the lobby with a fractured ankle and a full leg cast, and she gives me that classic New Yorker look—half "are you serious?" and half "what idiot comes to France for three months with a broken ankle?" She wasn't wrong. But true to who she is, she handed me her coat, looked out for me from day one, and made sure I didn't completely wreck myself hobbling around Europe. We wandered all over France, hit up Euro Disney, and made memories I still talk about—including the time we both swore we saw a snake infestation (spoiler: probably not real), and the night we jumped out the dormitory window in a full panic over what turned out to be a shared hallucination. It was a wild summer, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Now, seeing her graduate as a Double Eagle—someone who earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Riddle—is something to be proud of. Not many people go the distance like that. LaVerne's always had that rare mix of brains, heart, and grit. She's the definition of an empowered woman—smart, fearless, and unapologetically herself. She doesn't wait for permission, she doesn't ask for credit—she just gets it done. Proud to know her, and proud to sign this page.
